1234 Upstairs floors with semi gloss

1234 Upstairs floors with semi gloss.

Mike, Ben, and Andrew have been busy and have the main area of the upstairs nearly done.

The servant's quarters still remains BUT that is where everything is stored right now. Also, we are stripping all the paint off the woodwork.

Ben and Andrew have been working on the main floor. Mike is talking about starting the the stairway after he is done with the semi-gloss upstairs.

The new floor finish really makes it look like we have our work cut out for us on the door trim!

FLOORS

Mike and Ben Merrick have been working on the floors for almost 8 weeks now. AMAZING amount of work required to get 113 years of varnish off. This goes all the way down to dental tools to get the paint out of the cracks after the sanding was done.

We have elected to only go up to the top of the baseboard (about 12" up ) at this point.

WE ARE BACK POSTING!

July 12, 2009

We are back posting!

Thanks to Dustin we have a new method for posting.

Things have been happening since our last post .. maybe.. 10 years ago ;-)

Mike and Ben Merrick ( our in-laws / outlaws ;-) ) have been working on the Oak floors for six weeks now. The three bedrooms and central area should be ready for stain this week.
We will include pictures in the next blog.

Curtis has been finishing and painting the ceilings. Depending on his projects before school starts he might be able to get the chimney tuck-pointed in the kitchen.

Unfortunately we will not be able to be on the Tour of Homes this year. We plan to drive a small U-Haul to Des Moines the weekend near September 26 with more antiques we have been collecting.
