Garden continued

We began to build the garden in May of 2010. We got a late start but decided to move ahead anyway. Lots of bricks and cement to move before we can begin.

Work is progressing now down the stairs. VERY VERY tedious work with all the corners and angles. PROBABLY two weeks total work on the stairs by the time they are all done.

Mike and Andrew have been working thier way down the steps. Ben is at camp.

Mike, Ben, and Andrew have been busy and have the main area of the upstairs nearly done.

The servant's quarters still remains BUT that is where everything is stored right now. Also, we are stripping all the paint off the woodwork.

Ben and Andrew have been working on the main floor. Mike is talking about starting the the stairway after he is done with the semi-gloss upstairs.

The new floor finish really makes it look like we have our work cut out for us on the door trim!

FLOORS

Mike and Ben Merrick have been working on the floors for almost 8 weeks now. AMAZING amount of work required to get 113 years of varnish off. This goes all the way down to dental tools to get the paint out of the cracks after the sanding was done.

We have elected to only go up to the top of the baseboard (about 12" up ) at this point.
